Wedding Planning should be easy, and fun. Here are a few ways to take the stress out of the process.
From my experience, planning a wedding can start to feel like drinking from a fire hose. It seems like everyone has a say in what decision you make, you feel like your "to-do list" is miles longer, and each step seems to have its set backs. I have had friends and family suggest ways to help ease the process. Here is the list of a few things I think will help ease the stress and keep the fun in planning your wedding.
1: Create a Budget
This step is so hard for some. If you aren't a money-minded person, budgeting can be frustrating. Luckily, my dad is good with this kind of thing. That made my budgeting easier, but I have a lot of friends that don't have the same resource. So, I wanted to leave a few resources to create an easy budget.
Wedding Wire -- This website takes your budget and estimates allotments for your different categories. It does allow you to make adjustments as needed, and input expenses as you go.
2: Get a Wedding Planner
Many brides get a wedding planner to help keep track of things. This gives a lot of the responsibility of remembering on someone else, and helps the bride to stay accountable and on time, but some of us have a tighter budget and aren't planning on using a wedding planner.
This was me. I found that there are still a lot of resources that can help keep you on track. I had someone gift me a wedding planner book that has helped me stay organized and within my budget. Here are a few other options I found in just a few minutes of looking that have great reviews.
Amazon -- If you are more of a written list kind of person, wedding planner books that allow you to write everything down are a perfect option. This one has a lot of pockets and charts to help keep everything in one place.
David's Bridal -- This company does all things wedding, which is awesome. What was cool about their planner is they have an option to create a vision board. If you are a visual person, this could be a great place for you to start your planning.
WeddingLDS.com -- Living in Utah, there are a lot of LDS weddings and quick engagements. This site provides checklists for specific lengths of engagements.
3: Get Inspiration from Others
For me, this step got to be equal parts helpful and overwhelming. Sites like Pinterest and Etsy can get to be too much if you look too long. Use them to find what you want, save it, then get off. There are endless options for dresses, rings, and decorations. Find what speaks to you and run with it!
Pinterest -- This link will take you to my board with some pins to give you a few ideas. This is not the limit though. This is just a starting point. When you find something you like, research a little more to find what you like.
Etsy -- This is a better resource when you have a more specific idea of what you want. It has a lot of exciting things, but may be more useful when you know what you are looking for.
